In November 2008, Sykes participated in the IMME exhibition in India, with India Sales Manager Viv Parikh and Asia General Manager Mike Brewer in attendance. IMME is an exhibition targeted towards the mining industry in India, and had participants from mining equipment manufacturers, and rental and safety industry representation from companies based around the world.
The 4th IMME expo was held in Kolkata and provided humid and warm weather during the day, but was pleasant in the evening. Sykes partnered with M/S Alson to increase awareness of the Sykes brand and was located in the Austrade section.
Despite the economic downturn, the turnout was excellent and Sykes received a number of enquiries. Many visitors to the stand commented that they had heard of Sykes and knew their pump equipment to be of a high standard. Viv and Mike were able to impress upon visitors the vast application and user knowledge of pumps that Sykes has gained during its 41 years in business in Australia.
